The Camp Cup takes place at Skate Safe in Long Island, New York and is a roller hockey tournament between several camps from the Northeast, with 8th grade, 11th grade and Alumni brackets. Shout out to L.I.T. Brody Schwartz (Club 100), who made the push for Towanda to throw our hat on the rink and rallied some of his Club brothers to enter our first ever CT team in the event in the 11th grade division!
While we didn’t have much success on the rink,(we did have FUN) in typical Towanda fashion we became the favorite team of the tournament! From our brand new retro jerseys to our players' positive and fun attitude, we had every other team cheering for us… including our opponents. The photographer who works for Skate Safe even said we were her favorite team to watch all day.
Based on the success and positive feedback we have received from this event, we are planning to significantly upgrade our roller hockey program this summer! For those who are interested in having their camper participate, please make sure you pack roller blades and pads so they can partake in these clinics. Our younger campers will focus mainly on skating, basic stick handling and shooting. Our older campers will work on skill development, positional and team structure and game play. These clinics will be led by Mendy and our hockey specialist this summer.
The Retro Team Towanda Hockey Jersey was such a huge hit, we are able to make a 1-time only offer to campers, staff, parents, alumni and Friends of Camp. Click here to place your order by April 1st.
We can’t wait to show up next year with more teams at the Camp Cup (maybe even an Alumni team too!). A big thank you to Club 100 for showing up with style, spirit and class that made us very proud!
