The week kicked off at the keynote session as Mitch was honored to introduce Z to the crowd and then Z spoke from the heart….to a standing ovation!
After his speech, the congratulatory line was overwhelming as this true legend was met by friends, colleagues and people who only heard about him…it was a true celebrity moment!
That evening, The Towanda Crew celebrated at the unique Chef Vola restaurant, followed by a Wayne County Camp Association gathering at the Borgata Hotel where Z was hoisted in the air on a bar-mitzvah chair as the music and party continued into the wee hours!
It was not only a well-deserved accolade, but a wonderful tribute to one of the most respected professionals in the camp world.
Camp Towanda has been blessed over the last 27 years to have Z as our Operations Director; taking care of “everything” in the back room of logistics– from the laundry operation to transportation coordination to baggage shipping guru to management of kitchen and maintenance personnel, overseeing the kitchen, laundry, transportation, pre/post season events and inter-camp scheduling aspects of our operation. I have always said it, “we have no problems, we have Z”!
Although trying to slow things down a bit, Z is still very much a part of Camp Towanda…on top of baggage, Visiting Day logistics and Olympic football reffing! And, of course, on the side, ready to jump in and help as needed.
